Valerie Sasaki Vyvial
Founder & Design Director
Born in Yokohama to a Japanese-Chinese mother and a German-Czech father, Valerie brings a rich multicultural perspective to the studio's work. She studied architecture at University College London before obtaining her European architecture license at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.
After beginning her career on large-scale international projects in London, Valerie returned to Japan to reconnect with her cultural roots — founding Vyvial & Co to explore design that reflects both Eastern and Western sensibilities. Her approach centres on a deep respect for craft, materiality, and detail, creating spaces that balance modern sensibility with cultural nuance.
